Meet Mimi Hives...

Down to earth and sharp as a tack, Mimi is a smooth operator in our Owners Corporation team and she ensures that campaigns flow seamlessly from start to finish. Originally born in Thailand, but she has lived in more cities than most people! Get to know wonderful Mimi below…


How did you find yourself working in property and specifically in your field?
I wanted to be a property owner and ended up selling real estate. Naturally going through the work cycle I ended up in a support role with the Owners Corporation team here at Dixon Kestles.

Did you grow up in Melbourne? Tell us a little about where you are from and where you live now…
Iwas born in beachy Penang Thailand. I lived in Warrnambool when I first moved to Australia, then Darwin, Sydney, Canberra and eventually back to wonderful Melbourne. For years I lived in St Kilda, just a stones throw from the beach. Now I am enjoying being outside the city in a cooler, hilly area with lots of trees and a quiet lifestyle, chasing after my grandchildren.

What are your top three favourite cafes/restaurants/bars?
Pelligra Cakes in Greensborough, Rockpool Bar & Grill in Southbank and Bar Di Stasio in St Kilda.

What’s one item you could not live without?
My thin cotton scarf my daughter brought home from London.

What is your star sign?

Describe your ultimate holiday?
Warm, sunny, clean beach, seafood galore, choice to laze on the beach or at the Mediterranean beach resort overlooking the sea.

What is your favourite movie scene or quote from a film?
"Chewie, we're home" - Star Wars episode VII: The Force Awakens, 2015 with Harrison Ford.

What was the first concert you ever went to?
Peter Allen, in Warrnambool 1980.

Which sporting teams do you barrack for?
Brisbane Lions.

Do you have any hobbies or talents?
Consistently nurturing my interests in growing herbs and vegetables in spite of harsh weather conditions. My ultimate goal is to build a hot house and grow vegetables galore!

What’s the best thing about your job?
I am able to take ownership and take actions that best support the busy Owners Corporation Managers effectively.

Can you tell us about any accomplishments or career highlights you are proud of?
Conducting an effective and efficient auction campaign from marketing to auction day, with smooth open house inspections, following up with buyers, prompt updates with vendors, keeping the negotiation process flowing and ending up with a result that is over reserve – happy vendors, happy buyers. Win Win situation.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have received?
“If there is a will, there is a way” – my grandma’s advice when I was very little.
